French fries are just potatoes, right? Potatoes make a great
filling for a hearty omelet, right? So why not put to great tastes together.
On the rare occasion we have leftover fries, this is a great
way to use them up. From experience, French fries don’t reheat very well back
to their original crisp-exterior/soft-interior condition.
However, they can be
used to make a delicious breakfast the next day.
Here’s how to make it:
Ingredients
1 Handful of cooked French fries
2 eggs
2 tbsp grated cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Beat together eggs, salt and pepper. Cook in a buttered
skillet and flip once. Pile French fries and cheddar cheese on one said and
flip the other side over. Serve on a plate with some more shredded cheese and
top with a couple of fries for looks.
Variations
Cut up the fries instead of using them whole. They act more
like hash browns.
Try curly fries instead of plain French fries. They add a different
flavor and spice up the omelet. Try different cheeses and add chopped peppers
and traditional omelet fillings.
Would I Make
It Again?
By all means, yes. Not only does this recipe use up some leftovers
that are otherwise hard to use, but the precooked French fries work as a great substitute
for potatoes or hash browns.
